Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie: Dessert or Breakfast?

So the other night I made an insanely tasty smoothie:

Vanilla Almond Milk Plus Protein + Banana + Ice Cubes + Peanut Butter + Plant Protein + NUTELLA

Nutella is my down fall. I absolutely love the Nutella commercials that try to convince you that it's healthy. Case in point:


"Skim milk, hazelnuts, and a hint of cocoa." Seriously?! A HINT? It's basically milk chocolate sauce! Of course your kids are going to eat waffeles and toast if you slather them in chocolate! Let's just honest with ourselves. Nutella is delicious and is in no way healthy (even if it is "natural" - natural does not mean healthy!). This is simply the reality of the situation.

That being said, although my PB + Nutella Smoothie was amazingly delicious...it was not healthy. So I decided to give it another shot with a tiny ingredient makeover:


Instead of Nutella I went with a tablespoon of Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa, which is only 10 calories and 15 calories from fat, and 0.5 grams of fat, with no saturated fat or trans fat. Nutella, on the other hand, is 100 calories for 1 tablespoon, with 50 fat calories, 5.5 grams of fat, 1.75 grams of saturated fat and no trans fat. So yeah, dark cocoa is definitely the healthier option.

How was the taste? Almost no difference at all! The only major difference was that the Cocoa Smoothie was a bit less sweet, which was actually pretty nice since the Vanilla Almond Plus Protein, Plant Protein and Banana added all the sugar needed, which is really saying something since I have a serious sweet tooth.

Took me multiple tries to get a photo of a perfectly frosted glass with no fingerprints. Appreciate.
