Signs of Spring

Okay, there aren't really any signs of spring here, so this post is probably more aptly named "Ready for Spring" or "Preparing for Spring," but neither of those sound very good. If you know me at all (whether in real life or just online), then you probably know I'm a rather avid gardener. I've worked at nurseries and as a plant and flower merchandiser on and off throughout the years, but in a cruel twist of fate, I've never had a yard of my own. Not only that, but I've been living in a garden level (read: basement) apartment for the last 2.5 years - Oh, the humanity! However, I am now in possession of a balcony (although it's north facing, lame) as well as a very sunny apartment, and I plan to take full advantage. I recently came across Esschert Design and have pretty much filled my wishlist with lovely pieces from their shop.

Since my balcony is not only north facing, but is also enclosed on three sides and the roof (could they make it anymore difficult to grow flowers), I had to find otherwise to bring my love of roses and florals into my life.

Now I'm not saying that I'm going to go out and buy all of this - even that is a bit too much shabby chic for me, but I am saying I wouldn't mind adding a few of these to my ever growing collection of garden accessories - especially those lovely French Provincial inspired pieces.

  2. I love floral print anything and I went through a phase of wanting to work at a florist or with flowers/plants! I think it had to do with reading the language of flowers right around the time of my wedding when I was spending hours looking up different flowers. I love the flower pots from the french inspired items you picked out! And the watering can. And the entry mat...and obviously pretty much everything so I'll just stop rambling haha

  3. Ooh I think I need a mix of the French and Rosie pots for our back porch, and the watering can is so much cuter than my bulky plastic Lowe's version

  4. I am dying for spring to get here! Have you looked into community garden programs? That's where I garden here in Troy. It's such an awesome program for landless-peeps like us.

  5. I wish I had a green thumb like you, basically everything I've ever planted dies, but I love looking at all the pretty flowers my neighbors have, haha!

  6. Love the flower pots and vintage watering can! Wish I could steal some of your gardening abilities, because I somehow managed to kill even the succulents in my house!
