In an unexpected turn of events, it looks like we'll be attending the Travers this year! For those unfamiliar, it's basically the Kentucky Derby of the north and is run in Saratoga Spring every year. With all the talk about the potential for American Pharaoh to run and with the new attendance cap, we hadn't planned to go, since we thought it would just be too crazy, but some tickets came through unexpectedly and I am now finding myself 2 weeks from the race without nothing to wear. Granted, I could just throw on last year's dress (above), but I rarely get occasions that warrant formal clothing, so when they happen, I like to take advantage of them.
If I had the time, I would have most certainly gone with this dress by Jennifer Diederich, but they are all made to order and it would take about 3-4 weeks, so sadly, not an option this year (but next year for sure!). Here are two potential outfits for a perfect race day.
For those going a more traditional right, a summery and slightly more conservative dress and larger hat are a great match.
My predisposition to pink is showing through slightly...I am loving this Boden dress (hm, express delivery maybe?) and Brooks Brothers hat! These Michael Kors sandals will go with everything and are even on sale. A sweet clutch and pair of pearls make it a complete look.
