Seersucker Sass

Now that it's May, it's time to start looking towards summer trends and seersucker is definitely a classic summer wardrobe staple. There's a reason why seersucker is so popular, especially in summer formal wear and suiting:  The light, cotton fabric is cool and airy and the texture hides obnoxious wrinkles easily, making it perfect for any type of warm weather activity.

I actually bought this Lilly Putlizer dress for my Bridal Shower several years ago, but due to some bad alterations and time constraints, never had the time to have it fixed properly until recently. Seeing as I'm from the Northeast, seersucker is typically reserved for summer months and winter time jaunts to Florida. On my last visit to Boca Grande, I paired it with this perfect pink purse and a nautical themed bracelet (similar), both from Kate Spade. My stripey blue and gold earrings are super affordable from Charming Charlie. Navy wedges from Ralph Lauren are perfect for walking on grass and sand without having to worry about your heels sinking in! I had no problem walking around town in these wedges and found them very comfortable, which is surprising considering how particular I can be about footwear.

Although this particular dress is no longer available (if you are intent on hunting it down, the dress style is Henrietta), it's such a classic look that you can still find similar dresses very easily. My first and foremost recommendation for replicating this style would be to head on over to Lauren James, who makes adorable and well made southern inspired apparel. They carry several dress styles in a variety of seersucker colors. My favorite is the Garrison, because it's bra friendly, but if you're all about bows, then you have to go with the Livingston or the Stratton.
